With a buzz in our ears…

Went to the Okanagan with Shay to visit her family/our friends. It was warm, went to a couple beaches, had a dog thrown at me, didn’t get sunburnt. It was good times. Met a lot of cool people. Got the powercord for Shay’s keyboard, so I will be trying to use that to make some musics. Should also work on a song I have been working on for a while. Thinking of replacing my phaser/flanger with analog versions, likely from Electroharmonix, and eventually adding a bass distortion and an octave pedal to my gear. And then get a pedalboard. Also looking at new amps again. One day. Probably going swimming this weekend. Probably going to see Inception this weekend. I really want to go see Ryan Dahle at the Biltmore, but Shay won’t be able to stay for the whole thing. Dinosaurs Alive is coming to GM place (I think) last weekend of August, and I really really REALLY want to go see that. Because dinosaurs. Are. Fucking. Awesome. Never forget. Multi-grain Cheerios are awesome. As is homemade pizza and artisan bread from Safeway. And slurpees. And tea.

Phase Shifting

Still looking for a job. Have applied many places. Have applied for EI. Went camping a couple weekends ago, met a lot of her friends. It was good times, minus the rain and having to buy a tent the night before we left because we were expecting to be inside and almost getting lost on the way there. The bunnies like to hop on top of their castle and Oscar likes to look majestic when he does so. Have almost figured out/tabbed all the bass to Matt Good’s album “Vancouver”. Also been experimenting with combining effects, but as I only have 2 power supplies and no 9-volt batteries, I can only combine 2 effects at a time. I am thinking I might quickly record something today and maybe post it. Working super slowly on getting stuff copied over here, so if you care at all, go ahead and keep checking.

Starting Over

New year, new city, new TV, new blog. Why not?

Quick rundown of things that have happened since my last post on my old blog back in September:

1)Telus closed my department and I got laid off.
2)I didn’t work for 2 months.
3)Got hired at Shaw Cable.
4)Was sad that I didn’t get to spend Christmas with Shay because I got hired at Shaw.
5)Got awesome guitar effects.
6)Got a new guitar.
7)Went to Edmonton with Shay and got a tacky hotel room, played mini golf, went to the waterpark and galaxyland and the shooting range and had epic bubble baths.
8)Got rid of a bunch of video games, clothes and books.
9)Moved to Burnaby with Shay.
10)Got a new TV.
11)Got to see Dawn and Melissa and meet a couple other people.
12)Went to the coast and took my first ferry ride.
13)Saw downtown Vancouver, enjoyed it.
14)Got TV/Net/Phone installed at our new place.
15)Have played a lot of Wii Sports with Shay and set a new personal best in bowling.

It’s been a good couple weeks in Burnaby. Shay and I really like our place- it’s great having 2 bedrooms and windows where we get light and a balcony to hang out on and for the rabbits to live. It’s different going from Calgary where everything is dead until June to a place where everything is alive, but it’s nice. We live in a nice area with lots of restaurants/grocery store/movie theatre/our bank within about 10 blocks, which is pretty win. There are pictures on Shay’s flickr page.
